BOWL

Back

This bowl was made in 1964. It was one of my early stoneware pieces and I recall not only being pleased but almost excited with it. It was made at Tarragindi, in Queensland. ( 29 cms in diameter.) It was one of the first pots on which I used an ash glaze recipe from an influential book of that period, Clays and Glazes for the Potter, by Daniel Rhodes, an American who I was to meet many years later when he visited Australia. This bowl is now in the collection of the National Gallery of Victoria.
