BOABAB / VASE

Back

Titled 'Baobab' 20 cms h., this pot was made in 1962, at Tarragindi in Brisbane. It was inspired by the Aborigines who lived in the northern part of Australia. The artists from this particular tribe used the seeds of the Baobab tree as a form on which to carve or paint. It is a mid-range firing.

Vase, 1962. Mid-range firing. Made at Tarragindi. It is in the Art Gallery of South Australia collection. I recall that at that time I was experimenting with different sorts of decoration. The clay was very rough and unfiltered.
