This chawan is closer to the shape most associated with Japan. The wider-mouthed 'chawan' are often like simple rice bowls, and this is in fact what they were. (The wider shaped ones were msinly Korean.) This one is certainly not as extreme as many Japanese ones are.
The foot of the pot is very important, a fact which sometimes potters tend to overlook. A tea-bowl is something akin to an instrument—it must be comfortable to use.
